About the Senior Life
Leadership Summit

The Senior Life Leadership Summit has been designed by
14 non-profit organizations for leaders in aging services and is brought to you by several dedicated sponsors. This program is by invitation only, and is for developers and managers of affordable housing, providers of aging services, funders, advocates and policy leaders based in the greater metropolitan area of Baltimore City, as well as for regionally-based representatives of public and private organizations that support seniors needs and interests, such as public transportation, libraries, community colleges, health care systems, and senior advocacy organizations, and more.

SUMMIT THEME:
An enlightened, rigorous community-based dialogue on building public-private partnerships to enable and support older persons to live with dignity and grace in their community of choice, with unfettered access to affordable, high-quality, integrated health and social services. 

SUMMIT GOALS:
• To improve the access, options and experience of Baltimore’s older adults through the sharing of knowledge and ideas among those who work in the inter-related areas of aging services, advocacy and systems change.
• To share best practices in aging-in-place services and identify opportunities for collaboration amongst key stakeholders.
• To ensure that organizational leaders move forward with market-aligned perspectives and recommendations that can be translated into realistic action plans for strategic implementation where they do their best work.

James Firman, President & CEO  of the National Council on Aging

For more than 25 years, James P. Firman, Ed.D. has been a leading force for innovation in services and programs for older persons. Under his leadership, NCOA has developed many nationally acclaimed programs to improve the health, independence, and continuing contributions of older adults. He has also directed NCOA’s development of world-class core competencies in expert systems, diffusion of innovation, public-private partnerships, and advocacy.

Dr. Judah Ronch, Dean & Professor of the Erickson School at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County

Prior to coming to the Erickson School, he was Vice President of Resident Ife, Mental Health and Wellness for Erickson Retirement Communities, where he was responsible for developing person-centered, strengths based approaches to best serve the mental wellness needs of Erickson’s over 20,000 residents on 18 campuses.  Chief among his responsibilities was to develop resident services and staff education programs to optimize the mental wellness of all residents regardless of their cognitive or emotional challenges.
